Critical Thinking In The Workplace

From an employer point of view I would think critical thinking is a very important attribute when looking for a candidate for a job. It is important to have an employee that is a good critical thinker because this helps when you know an employee can use their thinking skills to give great input for problems that arise. If an employee is a good critical thinker you don’t have to worry about them getting their work done because you know they will have little problems getting the task at hand accomplished. If an employee is not a good critical thinker you always have to worry if they can get out of a jam themselves or you might feel as if you have to baby sit them through most of the hard task that come about. From my point of view there has
been a couple of times that critical thinking has help me in the work place. The company I use to work for was really good at letting the employees help them in figuring out problems to make the company more safe and efficient. One of the tmes that comes to mind of when I had to use critical thinking was when we were discussing safety issues about loading material on the docks at work. We never had to load material onto a trailer before so it was a new process for us and we also had to share the dock with workers from another department. One of my coworkers was having a problem with other fork truck drivers cutting her off when she was trying to load the trailer. We had a safety meeting about this and I took a couple of days to do some research for the most efficient way to complete the job safely. After doing some research I found out that when the other drivers go on break and lunch we can load all of our material and our drivers won’t have to worry about other traffic will loading their parts. I feel like the level f critical thinking I am at is good but I need some help to get to a level where I would feel a hundred percent comfortable in my dream job. I feel that the level that I am at would put me above some people but I think I need some more lesson in how to organize my thoughts better. I feel that becoming a better critical thinker has a lot to do with gaining experience and over time you develop better skills to become a better thinker. When I first started my job I feel like I would not be able to come up with conclusion to a lot of problem but over time I started thinking about better was to complete the task.
