Critical Thinking Reflection
Reflection of My Critical Thinking There are many specific factors that attribute to my critical thinking view. The way I was raised probably plays the biggest role and I can’t thank my parents enough for how I turned out. Furthermore, I will explain the role these factors played in how I turned out as well as why it is the way of my people. From the get-go, my mom worked hard to give me a good education. I spent my first years of elementary school in a private Christian institution. This I attribute to the majority of how I turned out now. I learned many things there such as proper manners, etiquette, and treatment of others. I also feel that it gave me better insight into how I hold myself now. For instance, with decision making I tend to re-enforce the choice I would like over one that is truly the better choice. However, once I look at the situation as a whole, I end up making the logical choice. This is something I attribute to the way of my people. Many of my family will look at the favored options in opposition of the logical one. However, when it comes to actually making the decision, we all make the logical one. Perhaps it is because we like the idea of having the favored option, but we have enough self-control to notice the truly correct choice. Moreover, there are values and general rules that I hold close that people of other cultures or areas may not understand. For instance, the biggest difference I see from my culture to others is relationships. For instance, people in other countries are much more relaxed about dating and sleeping together than we are in America. In my family culture, if my sister brought home a date for the night, he would sleep in another room of the house. Whereas in other countries, they would just share a bed. This is very new to me and I only discovered this information when I came to limestone. Moreover, the way you interact, treat others, and openness to others are all very important in my culture.
