The title of the movie : Taare Zameen Par Movie/ Like Stars on Earth.
The summary of the movie :
This movie told the story about an eight year boy, named Ishaan who was thought to be lazy and a troublemaker since he preferred to daydream during all lessons instead of paying attention to what were being taught by his teachers in front of the classroom. His habit of daydreaming also affected him when he was required to sit for examinations. He was also having problems in completing his homework since he tended to repeat the same mistakes as if he was not remembering what were being taught by his teachers in school at all. Worst, his academic performances were gradually dropped which affecting his promotion to the next year of schooling. However, his fate changed when a new art teacher came to the school and start to discover the real problem behind his struggles in school with full of patience and compassion. It was discovered that the boy was actually suffered from Dyslexia which is actually a term used to describe children who are continually having problems with reading and writing, and often including spelling, numeracy or musical notation (New Zealand Ministry of Education, 2010). It usually associated with difficulties in concentration, short term memory, and organization (Dyslexia International Organization, 2011).
How this movie contributes to my personal development as a future teacher?
This movie portrayed two types of teachers which are a professional teacher and a non-professional teacher. Parallel with my previous personal journal entry 1, I would like to add on the characteristics of non-professional and professional teachers portrayed in this movie. First and foremost, based on the picture given, Ishaan’s English teacher is an example of a non- professional teacher. It is because instead of asking Ishaan to pay attention and read the reading text given in a polite manner, she preferred to scold him by using
