This scenario demonstrated good teamwork skills as the team were having a huddle, the team were discussing the next steps of care for the patient. It is evident that they are working together as a team since they were all committed to the same purpose, performance goals and approach, as each member of the team was mutually accountable and responsible for the patient as evident by Dr Pham cross monitoring (Persily 2013, p.8). Greg has reason for concern as although the patient’s vital signs were within normal limits and this typically indicates physiological well-being, this does not guarantee it (Treas & Wilkinson 2014, p.414). Due to this, it is important that Greg makes note of this, so both himself and the rest of the team can monitor the situation. This will allow for everyone to become aware and ensures that everyone keeps an eye on the patient, this will ensure that there is nothing wrong with the patient and should there be interventions can be used.

In my current satiation as nursing student, I believe that it is important to express that I am not feeling safe, this is because it could prevent myself or someone else from being injured. It is important to speak up if I believe something is not safe, the ‘I’M SAFER’ checklist is a good framework to use to determine if something is not safe. If I believe something is unsafe it is important to communicate this by informing someone such as a Registered Nurse or my placement
