In the book "Journey into God's Word: Your Guide to Understanding and Applying the Bible (pp. 100-102), Duvall and Hays teach the four steps of the Interpretative Journey for the New Testament letters. These steps, when utilized properly, helps us grasp the meaning in the scriptures Galatians 5:16-18, but also gives us an understanding of how we interpret things in the modern world as opposed to those in the biblical world.…

My spirit began to search for more of God . It is apparent that I must fast, pray and read my bible on a daily basis so that I can focus on God and build a closer relationship with him. This book is an excellent resource for counseling for those who need guidance in incorporating spiritual disciplines in a secularly dominated society. The only way this will be instrumental in counseling is to refer to its teaching and allow the Holy Spirit to make it conducive and acceptable in the counseling session. Many Christian counselors can use this resource to reach a level of maturity that will translate into true healing and…

This passage from c.c lewis conforms to the style of fictional writing. The protagonist portrays a stressed atmosphere, using strong diction which subsequently catches the readers attention, drawing their attention further into the story.…
Through His Word we can know our God and have thoughts about who He is. In a thoughtful desire to pursue truth there becomes a right and a wrong way of thinking about God, allowing us to discern heresy from sound theology. In his book God Talk, Randall J. VanderMey states that “close attention to Christian language— its possibilities as well as its poverties—can open the mind, reawaken wonder and strengthen faith” (VanderMey 16). It is important that we examine how prioritizing feelings over thoughts has affected our relationships with God. Instead of thinking thoughts about God and desiring to have knowledge about God, we prioritize feeling His presence and when we don’t feel His presence, we doubt His omnipresence. However, when we seek out truth about who God is—the thoughts about God that are written for us in Scripture— these thoughts about God become our thoughts, which in turn can produce feelings. How much more deep and rewarding is the feeling that we can attribute to…
For instance, during my 8th grade year my best friend succumbed to juvenile Diabetes and passed away in her sleep. If it was not for the hope that delving into God’s word granted me, I cannot imagine how I would have handled the situation. I read many comforting scriptures, most notably John 14:1-3…
I am reading, “The Chemist”, By Stephanie Meyer. It is about a character named Alex, who is an Ex-Agent for the top-secret government program dealing with terrorism. Alex had been approached in hiding by her former agency who needed her help with one of the most dangerous men in the world, who withheld a super-flu to extinct all human population. Within the novel, there are many diverse characters that can identify with pieces of music. Often times, music can be relatable in that people put their feelings into the text.…

Throughout every college experience there are two sides to every story. The text made me realize, through vivid examples that I remember learning when I was younger, such as the gods and the giants, something that I have been told since I was young. That I have to always think twice before I think say or do anything.…
Another blow to character education was the postmodern thinking. Postmodern theory is based on the idea that reality is not reflected in human understanding. Reality is constructed as the person tries to interpret their own reality, (Aylesworth, 2012). According to Wilhelm and Firmin, the “backlash of postmodernism asserts that Christian virtue and absolute truth cannot be held as exclusive morality,” (Welhelm & Welhelm, 2008, p.190). Teachers became concerned with forcing any absolutes or morality. In the absence of absolutes or morality…
