Cultural Confidentiality In Groups

Professor, ethical aspects involved in doing group work with diverse client populations is that every culture has different definitions of confidentiality. It is critical for the group leader to present a multicultural sensitivity however, it is to some degree impossible to meet each members cultural definitions of what confidentiality means to them. I suppose through intake screening questionnaires and listening carefully to everyone’s introduction a group leader can get an idea where they stand in that area. However, I believe that is important for the group leader to clearly define the guidelines that are set in place and regardless of personal or religious convictions that these guidelines must be kept to ensure the safety of the group
