Where else to begin? Toronto has some of the best restaurants in the world, and its multiculturalism lends itself to a wide variety of cuisines. If you're as committed to carbs as I am, you have to check out Terroni. This Italian restaurant has locations across the city, so you'll be able to access one wherever you're staying, but my personal favourite is the Adelaide site. It’s housed inside of an old court house and jail, and you can even see some of the cells in the washrooms downstairs! This restaurant may have a few quirks (like their refusal to make changes to the menu or serve pre-cut pizza), but the delicious food is definitely worth the slight annoyance. If you prefer pasta, I recommend the Spaghetti al Limone, a tangy lemon dish which is light but still slightly creamy and definitely filling enough for a full meal!…

In reference to the movie “Bully” my reaction on Ms. Lockwood and how she handled the various bullying situations in the school had me gasp. She tries to she dresses down an obviously upset kid by negotiating a handshake between the bully and his reluctant victim by saying “You’re just like him. Ms. Lockwood also downplays the possibility that a student is being bullied while meeting with Libby’s parents. She tries to empathize with Alex’s family by showing them pictures of her granddaughter and saying, “See my baby? HUH?”.…

“Big Trouble in Little China” starts with a white American character called Jack Burton, who delivers his cargo to a small town and during some free time plays card games in a Chinese market. After beating everyone at the game, he is proposed a bet by his friend Wang, and wins. Wang, not having enough cash to pay himself, convinced Jack to pick up his girlfriend Miao Yin at the airport, promising after which he would pay what he owed. Unexpectedly, a Chinatown gang called the Lords of Death abducts Miao, because of her green eyes. She becomes essential to being able to revive an ancient Chinese sorcerer Lo Pan and bring him back to the flesh. This marks the beginning of the adventure to rescue Miao and destroy Lo Pan’s plan down in Little China.[1] From the plot summary, “Bid Trouble in Little China” is an entertaining film, however, its value reaches beyond entertainment; it provides invaluable insights into cultural stereotypes, in both Chinese-American culture and mainstream American culture.…
As I contemplated on what my cultural plunge was going to be, it made me realize that I am lucky to say that I have been exposed and acquainted with maybe more than the usual. My ex-husband is Middle Eastern, I am Mexican, and I have homo-sexual friends, and have and had friends that are African-American, Caucasian, Japanese, Filipino, Jewish, and Korean. I finally chose to explore more of the Asian culture because although I have friends that are Asian I liked to know more about their culture. Being that I love to cook, I decided to go to an Asian market. As I searched the internet for suggestions on where to go, I found 99 Ranch Market to have the highest ratings. 99 Ranch Market is an Asian market located in Clairmont.…
