Hofstra Mission Statement
I first heard about Hofstra from a student who currently attends as an undergrad. As an individual with interests in all subjects, a liberal arts program appeals to me the most. In addition, Hofstra's mission statement aligned with my ideals: an environment that promotes the exchange of free ideas in order to grow.
One obvious problem in our contemporary society is the divide between political groups. When half of our nation refuses to compromise with responsibility and speak with civility to the other half, a deep hatred grows and further splits the homeland. "A house divided against itself cannot stand" and refusing to speak to others with differing ideas contributes to this effect. Hofstra has also acted upon this mission by successfully hosting the first

At just a brief glance from Hofstra's event page, there are numerous daily events that promote student engagement.
Some activities may be off campus, and Hofstra's location gives a strong advantage to students. Hofstra is about an hour away from New York City, and its close proximity provides opportunities to explore ethnic areas and meet people from all walks of life. This diversity also shows through Hofstra's goal to diversify the student body. Long
Island also contains a rich history of ethnic diversity with the arrival of migrants from all parts of the world.
Hofstra's small class size is also a good indication that students will be closer to their professors and to their peers. As a student who thrives in a classroom-like environment, a smaller class provides more opportunities for enrichment compared to a stuffed lecture hall.
Overall, Hofstra has many benefits for all students, no matter what their interests are. From a small class size to location to Hofstra's mission, not only will Hofstra provide me with ample amounts of student to student connections, but I can also give back to Hofstra in the form of an active member of the community and helping

Housing is another impact. This is accompanied by extensive rules and regulations about visitors, off-campus trips, and curfews. I am an only child of my parents and have not shared a room in eighteen years. Living on campus and sharing a room with another is helping me to interact on a more social level with the diversity of students that are enrolled. This will definitely give me a head start for my freshman year, when more people will be here on campus. I have driven by this home college many times, but did not realize the beauty and purpose of the University of the Virgin Islands. Being on campus, have provided me with the knowledge of the campus, and have helped me to feel at home.…

I have selected these universities based on location and the majors offered. My goal is to live in New York City, so my main university choices are located there, though I have also decided to apply to one close to home for familiarity and as a back-up. The second factor that affected my decision was my proposed major. Since I want to go into music performance to hopefully one day sing opera, as well is major in psychology so I can help those with eating disorders if I end up not being successful in opera, I want to attend a university that has these…

Before coming to college, I had made many naïve assumptions about Binghamton University. What if my roommate didn't like me? What if we have nothing in common? I thought long and hard about what my tiny dorm room would look like and had countless nightmares about sharing a communal bathroom. However, after arriving here, the experiences that I've made have altered my thoughts on college.…

My first weeks at VT gave me the opportunity to meet a senior student named Jeremy in front of West AJ (my dorm). He was smoking a cigarette and enjoying the weather outside. I asked him for a lighter and if he was living here. He was actually on the same floor as me. I was pretty surprised to meet a senior living on campus and he seemed pretty convinced that it is the best place to live when you are in college. I couldn’t believe him. He stated certain points which can be considered as convenient such as having a fast access to all your classes. Everything is closer. You are five minutes away from all dining halls, the health center and even from the library where you can find all academic resources. All your friends are near and you feel like you are living in a certain community. You meet people you know randomly all the time. But I added,…

The biggest advantage of living on campus is that all of a student’s needs are paid for. According to Ball State University, Ball State Housing and Residence Life offers students the benefits that come from being close to classes and activities, living and learning from friends, making better grades, and getting involved in a community. They also offer semiprivate bathrooms, in- house computer labs, low-cost laundry areas, fitness centers, study lounges, free cable TV, fast wired and wireless computer connections, and meal cards for three meals a day (Ball State University). Some people believe that students should live off campus because off campus housing is more beneficial for students than campus living, not only in terms of freedom but also comfort.…

Growing up I always had the opportunity to interact with diverse groups. My father is a retired master sergeant of the United States Army. He is African-American and was born and raised Baptist in Kentucky. He married my mother who is South Korean and Buddhist. I spent the first three years of my life living in South Korea where my father was stationed. We were able to interact with Americans and Koreans from all over. As a result, I spoke two different languages, learned two different customs, and best of all - I saw no racial issues amongst the people around me.…

I want to look my future employer in the eyes, firmly shake hands, and be confident that my alma mater has prepared me well. I want to be in a class where I build a relationship with my professors. I’ve always wanted to go to a large school, with over 100+ students, in order to hide in the back and not participate. Participation has always been a struggle of mine, but going to college is also about transforming as a student, and developing skills that might have been lacked during high school. Going to smaller classes will force me to work on my participation skills, and I very much so enjoy building relationships with my teachers. Having a relationship with a teacher creates a sense of comfortableness, and enjoyment to school. I believe that I have built a strong relationship between all my teachers during high school, even if my participation has lacked while doing so. I also appreciated that Loyola is environmentally friendly. Our tour guide showed us the cafeteria that had floors made out of corks, and chairs made out of bottles. We tend to take the world we live in for granted, and I think that Loyola is doing a great job in showing the importance of taking care of the…

In terms of my high school experience, I am looking for a school that will assist me in the further development of collaborative as well as independent studies. GFS seems to have all of these qualities. For example, when I visited GFS I saw a community that is always supportive of any goal that a student might have in life and provide a foundation for that goal to be realized while also inspiring excellence in everything else that a student might become involved during high school years. I play lacrosse, compete in diving, and am an active dancer. GFS has an excellent lacrosse team which can help support me in terms of going forward in the goal to become a better lacrosse player while still pushing me to do the best I can in all of my other…
