There are many dimensions of cultural diversity that are changing, as mankind all over the world is being promoted to a better understanding a better quality and understanding of life. In chapter 1 of Exploring Race and Ethnicity; One hundred years ago, sociologist and activist W. E. B. Du Bois took another famed Black activist, Booker T. Washington, to task for saying that the races could best work together apart, like fingers on a hand. Du Bois felt that Black people had to be a part of all social institutions and not create their own. It is with our overall understanding that different groups of people located in …show more content…
different parts of our universe differ. Their united and shared mindset of the food, language, religion, art, values, attitudes, inherited ideas and beliefs create a strong social group. The differences in the various social groups in my opinion in fact can work together like fingers on a hand. When we look at dimensions we have to measure where a particular group began in their united mindset and where there have promoted the entire group in a major change of understanding what is best for the overall group.
In Chapter 17 when we look at how gay men and women are advocating for the same rights of hetaera sexual this issue has force other non gay cultural groups to accept homosexuality with a greater understanding.
With what ethnic, cultural, or other groups do you identify? Describe what members of your social circle have in common. I am a native African male born and raised in Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly known as Zaire). In my culture your cultural identity is always mandated by your father’s tribal inheritance. I am from the Muluba tribe. This tribe is located in Kasi region in Democratic Republic of Congo. We are known for our music, diamonds, food, language and wonderful mineral and gold recourses. I have lived in the United States of America for over 20 years and have been injected with the American culture. I adore the American food, music, art, language, and most of all the Christian charismatic nondenominational religion. In my social circle we enjoy being different in culture, Take for example just watching a Los Angeles Laker game. One guest will bring a native Mexican dish homemade, another guest Authentic Italian dish, another guest a Pilipino lumpia egg rolls, another Chinese dish. Each person crossing out of their original culture and enjoying an American cultural activity; united in every aspect.
What is the difference between diversity and inclusion?
It is one thing having the luxury of experiencing the priceless contribution that each individual is so willingly to give.
In cultural diversity that are so many wonderful rewards. In times there are adjustments that have to be made so that that social group can function with a healthy and safe interaction with other cultures. For example, a Texan with a strong southern draw in their speech with be placed in a position to accept a New York supervisor with a east cost accent. Just as that adjustment is so freely and willingly made is what I would define as inclusion when a cultural society mandates in their understanding to make the necessary adjustments for their members who are challenged with handicaps. Being different is most of the time great and grants many wonderful contributions to any given social group. Whereas, when that same group incorporates inclusion it places a badge of humanitarian honor displaying that social group’s quality. It is very important that it is a plus to make everyone to be included and function in the greatest quality of …show more content…

What is your experience with workplace culture? Could there be, or could there have been, more inclusion? I have had the privilege of working in a very diverse workplace with people from all over the world. It is amazing that everyone is included and allowed to progress in every aspect of the company. The common goal is set in the company’s policies and procedures. Although there is a diversity in culture. Every employee is given the same respect, opportunity and income with many promotional opportunities as well. Simply, because all employees that work at my company are members of a local union that advocates for equal employee rights. It is with that passion that every employee is honored to be a part of our union culture if you will allow me to say so. The union grants all employees the assurance that upper management just cannot violate union employees with it comes to employees coming to work to earn money to take care of their families. Every family has established different levels of life styles that come with a monetary cost each month. So I have experience Upper Management in breach of union contractual promises. There is not one Union employee that will not walk that picket line to show their reasonable duty to fight for their increase of wages that have been promised. Everyone is included to fight until the victory of receiving the wages that have been promised.
