It is clear that the show promotes this by the extremely diverse casting. The writers also develop many plots that revolve around cultural situations. A specific example is an episode where the main character is given a rare privilege. The other inmates then harassed her, saying that she was only given the privilege because she is white. In this situation, the viewer becomes sympathetic towards the non-white characters and unsympathetic towards the main character and the rest of the white characters. One character in particular is shown as a strong leader. This character is the head chef in the kitchen and it is clearly shown that she is capable of being in a position of authority. She also runs the prison black market and most inmates have great amounts of respect for her. There are also many women who are “in charge” of their various social groups and are shown as influential and also respected. There is also a point in the show where the prison hires another counselor who is a black woman. Almost immediately it is shown that most inmates prefer her to the old one who is an old white man. “Orange is the New Black” is undoubtedly one of the most culturally Marxist shows to be produced. Since the show is produced by Netflix, and therefore exists almost exclusively on the internet, it is easy for them to be this leftist. The producers make the show appealing to many types of people. They then use this to their advantage by pushing their ideology of cultural Marxism to shape the minds of their viewers.
