Culturally Infused Classroom
In American classrooms we promote the idea of assimilation. While this is important in some aspects of classroom curriculum, we often push aside and forget about other cultures, and how they can influence the learning capabilities of our classrooms. Infusing our classrooms with different cultures especially cultures of our students, will help create a more unified learning environment for all students. Instead of making students from various cultures feel as if they do not belong.
The Purpose of a culturally infused classroom is to recreate the Melting Pot that America once was. By teaching all students different key aspects of various cultures it will better help them to interact with each other as well as increase their learning capabilities.
A Russian teacher by the name of Lev Vygotsky once proposed the theory that people learn through the effects of their surrounding environment, such as communication, and interactions.
