SLC 13P Class 001-16 What exactly is culture? Culture can be described in so many different ways. Culture is the beliefs, customs, art, or even the way of life that different societies live by. Soldiers in the military constantly are learning about different cultures. Afghanistan, Iraq, South Korea, The United States all has different beliefs on how to live life. Iraq’s location, economy, and war on terrorism all play a major role in their way of living.
Iraq is 168,754 square miles, which is comparable to twice the size of Idaho. Iraq neighboring countries are Iran, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey, and the Persian Gulf. Baghdad was the name of a village that the Arabs chose …show more content…
Arabs comprise of about three-fourths of the total population, and Kurds compose of about one-fifth of the population. The remaining of the population are divided into several ethnic groups which consists of, Assyrian, Turkoman, Chaldean, Armenian, Yazidi, and Jewish. Almost all Iraqis speak and understand their official language, Arabic. Classical, modern standard, and spoken are three different forms of Arabic that many people speak within the country. Classical Arabic is the written language of the Qur'an. Modern standard Arabic, which has virtually the same structure in all Arabic-speaking countries, which usually taught in schools for reading and writing. Even in certain parts of the country the way life is being lived is different from another part of the country. Iraq has always had difficulties and the U.S. has trained not only their military, but also their police officers. It is up to the American Soldiers to continue to show the Iraqis that they are there not only to protect them, but also there to protect their beliefs, customs, arts, and their way of living
