Positive Effects of Culture Shock
Thesis Statement: There are many positive effects of culture shock, such as meeting new people, knowing about personality and increasing the knowledge.

When I moved to United State, I missed my family and my friends, living in Iran. While not had any friends hare, I felt so sad and depressed. Everything was new for me. I always asked myself why I came here. I spend my awful days in U.S. although I have my mother’s family here. Now, when I am thinking about my first day, I feel happy for myself because I learn a lot of things, I found new friends from another country with different culture, and also I know myself better than before. I believe that culture shock is not always consequences on people in a negative way. Culture shock has many positive effects such as, meeting new people, knowing personality and increasing knowledge. Meeting new people is one of the most important effects of culture shock that helps people a lot. According to Foley (2010), some of the psychosocial symptoms of culture shock are sadness and loneliness. Most of the people who moved to another country will encounter these feelings. Making new friends and meeting new people from another country and culture can be helpful to not feel solitariness. For instance, Public places, restaurants and coffee shops are excellent locations to meet new people. Residents can help foreigners to know more about new country, culture and language. Seltzer (2009), mentioned when she moved to Virginia, she found a lot of friends who were very different from her and she cared about them although they were from another civilization.
