The next plant listed is called the Dutchman’s Breeches. The scientific name for this plant is Dicentra cucullaria. Dicentra cucullaria is located in forest areas, also the soil in the area is moist. Poison oak can grow in different climates. For instance, in Florida they have a different species of poison oak than what we have up here. However, here in Michigan they need wet soil. The poison oak tree is distinctive due to the hairy vines. These trees should not be touched. If touched the toxins will be released on to the person, and a reaction occurs on the skin.
Lastly a tree that I thought was fascinating was the yellow poplar, also known as the Liriodendron tulipifera. Since I found this tree fascinating, I decided to do more research on it. I learned that the tallest Liriodendron tulipifera was in Cass County, however, it came down in a windstorm. I also found out, they are not located in the upper peninsula.
