Cyber-bullying
Overview Cyber-bullying is a very famous form of bullying nowadays because the present world is hi-tech. Cyber-bullying is the usage of the technology nowadays to threaten, harass, embarrass, or target someone. It is said to be occurring if only minors are involved. Once adults get involved, it is now called “Cyber-Harassment” or “Cyber-Stalking”. It is very inimical because it causes the victim to do it to another minor which will lead into chain. How it works? There are two types of doing cyber-bullying. It can be a “Direct Attack” or “Cyber-bullying by proxy”. There are many things to consider as a direct attack cyber-bullying. These are:
• Instant Messaging/Text Messaging Harassment
• Stealing Passwords
• Blogs
• Web Sites
• Sending Pictures through E-mail and Cell Phones
• Internet Polling
• Interactive Gaming
• Sending Malicious Code
• Sending Porn and Other Junk E-Mail and IMs
• Impersonation
Furthermore, cyber-bullying by proxy is very dangerous because some of these are done with the involvement of an adult. It is where cyber-bully makes someone to do the bullying for them. However, not all of these acts are committed intentionally. Some of these are unintentional and they do not know that they are cyber-bullying someone.
Why do kids cyber-bully each other? Some children or minors are alone and wants to have fun. Thus, they are bored and all they have is their cell phones, laptops, etc. They do that because of boredom or because they have experienced so they make some minors to experience it also and make some kind of revenge.
Effects Cyber-bullying is harmful for minors like us. Some teenagers who are victims of cyber-bullying were committing suicide because of this. It can cause a minor anxiety and stress or depression which will lead them to kill themselves and to harm others. These minors can be suspended from their schools because of the illness and the cyber-bullies can be punished, too. They can be kicked out from
