Daily Fantasy Sports Gambling
Daily fantasy sports is most definitely gambling. This type of gambling is at a more specific level in contrast to just placing bets to see which team will win the game. Daily fantasy sports have recently leaked out on the political stage. The debate over whether daily fantasy sports are gambling or not arose from its growing popularity. Gambling is highly regulated in the U.S. because someone actually earns money from all the people who go to casinos and play a game of poker or blackjack. People began to examine how some daily fantasy sports companies operate and soon found that the companies operate within a sort of legal gray area. Fantasy sports in general are groups of friends who get together to form a league and put a certain amount of money into a pot, and the champion of the league wins the pot after a two to three month long season. Daily fantasy sports have changed all of that, so now you make a new team every day with a higher chance of winning money. …show more content…
Both companies are proud to say that they have millions of daily users, although I did find out by going to their website that Fan Duel does not offer as many sports as Draft Kings. Daily fantasy sports are fantasy sports games that rely on the results of everything that happens in a real life sports game. You as the player earn fantasy points when one of your player scores in real life, whoever has the most points at the end of the game wins the money. I can honestly say that all of my roommates participate in daily fantasy

I am at a casino in California, and I am thinking about playing a game or two of craps. This is my first time ever playing craps and for the first three or four rolls I sit down and watch. Finally I feel like I am ready to play. So I stepped up and placed my first bet. Winner is announced. Shocked I gathered my winnings and kept playing. After winning a few more times I was given the opportunity to be the shooter. By now I have figured out that if I roll a seven or eleven we'll automatically win. However if I roll a 2, 3 or twelve we all lose automatically. So I rolled. To my astonishment I roll a ten. Well I had never seen this and don't know what to do. A nice gentleman explains to me that now I have to roll a ten again before rolling 7, 2, 3 or twelve. Nervous I roll. What are the odds of rolling the ten and not rule and a seven, two, three, or twelve?…

For you to be a consistent winner as a sports gambler, you must have a winning percentage above 52.38%. That doesn’t sound very difficult on the surface, but in reality it takes a tremendous amount of skill to consistently beat the point spread. In contrast, many sports gamblers are often simply gambling for entertainment purposes and bet on their favorite teams for added excitement. That’s why bookmakers in major cities skew the point spread on the area’s teams to their advantage. For example, if the Philadelphia Eagles are favored by 7 points in Las Vegas, many Philadelphia bookies will likely have them favored by 8 or 9 points because they know that more of their clients will bet on the hometown team.…

With the industry growing at such a fast rate and bringing in such a revenue, they were likely to see some interest from officials, “members of Congress have called for the Federal Trade Commission to investigate the sites and we’re likely to see hearings in the House early next year looking into the fairness and legality of sites like DraftKings and FanDuel. (Montgomery)”. To the blind eye there seems to be nothing wrong with what these companies are doing from a legal standpoint. However, the companies just recently banned its workers from participating in the one week leagues. Football season is coming to an end, and now new commercials for the Super Bowl are going to come out. Commercials during football games have been a big thing this year with companies involved in daily fantasy sports including Fanduel, and Draft Kings. There has been some major court cases based on daily fantasy sports with these companies. Some people say that fantasy sports should be illegal, and others say it should stay legal. Since then it has been a major argument if any daily fantasy sports should be legal or illegal. There are at least three simple arguments as to why fantasy sports should stay legal: fantasy sports are a game of skill, fantasy sports are not betting on one game or just one player, fantasy sports are legal according to the UIGEA.…

There are many reasons why people gamble and what the advantages and disadvantages are of risking your bank account on the roll of the dice or the luck of the draw. I originally set out to try and explain why people gamble, but I realized that gambling is just as much of a business or industry as anything else. I researched Foxwoods casino, in CT, and the business behind that. From there I will attempt to explain the "cause and effect" of gambling. Gambling has made much more sense to me now, and I hope it will do the same for you.…

There is sit thinking about what if I became addicted to sports betting, or what if I were to lose my money by becoming too aggressive with placing my money. Sports betting comes with plenty of downsides, similar to alcohol abuse and drug abuse. The activity can become extremely addictive which could lead to lives being destroyed. Once people partake in such an event, many can never stop placing money or just get wrapped up into the adrenaline of the sport. Lives are ruined by illegal gambling alone, so if it were to become legal, how many lives would actually be saved? Possibly slim to none, as it could just give folks an excuse to why they went bankrupt and lost everything they’ve owned. No matter how rich one person can be, if an addiction were to take place then everything would be lost. A new topic enters my mind as the basketball game continues. Would legalizing sports betting actually separate the common man from the government like it sounds? If a new industry is created into the economy then that means one big word that everybody hates except government. The word is taxes. The new industry would be so immensely popular that a tax would be placed with no doubt. Separation from the government would not be true, as cash flow from the new industry will likely be choked so much by the government that it would not be a long lasting…
