Dante's Deadly Sins

In the Divine Comedy, Dante goes through many circles of Hell. These circles symbolize the sins that the people in each circle have committed. Ironically, many people in modern day television shows, movies, or books commit most of these deadly sins. For example, the characters from the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie have committed many of these sins. Augustus Gloop has committed the sin of gluttony, and Veruca Salt has committed the sin of greed. These characters, according to Dante, would be place in certain circles in order to be punished for the sins that they have committed.

First, Augustus Gloop will be in one of the circles in hell. Augustus Gloop is from Dusseldorf, Germany. He is ten years old. August Gloop is known as the overeater because he overindulges in chocolate, many desserts, and lots of other junk foods. Obviously, his favorite hobby is eating. Augustus Gloop was the first out of five children to find the golden ticket in his chocolate. Unfortunately, he was the first child to be expelled from the tour because he fell into the river of chocolate. Augustus’ sin is gluttony.
Veruca Salt is nine years old. She is a spoiled brat known as a little princess. She is a nine year old who throws tantrums when she does not get what she wants. Her hobby is getting spoiled. Veruca Salt is the second child to win the golden ticket. Ironically, she did not win the ticket own her own. She was the third child to get expelled from the tour. She got expelled by getting attacked by squirrels. Her greediness and spoiled ways causes her to be put in circle 4, the circle of the
