Daoism is a philosophy similar to that of Confucianism. Daoism evolved from the ancient Chinese society in which the Han society would soon believe in. Its origin rooted from praying to Gods and Deities. According to modern scholars, they would think of Daoism as both philosophical and religious. However, the people who followed Daoism didn’t think of their practices in such ways. Rather, they would just follow their beliefs as they would their normal life. Taoists were people who followed Daoism and they believed that “immortality was not a gift from god.” ( ) They believed that there was a connection between the nature and their bodies. People followed these beliefs were thought to be living in the outskirts. These followers thought their bodies were like mountains in which the mountains would help walk them to their “path of immortality”. ( )

The Huanglao School in the state of Qi (now known as Shandong) was a place where Daoists practiced their duties. To define the concepts of Daoism, a very detailed guide in explaining the concepts is required to understand it better. The most important term is ‘Dao’ in which translating the Chinese word into English is very difficult because no word in English exactly gives the Chinese meaning but the English word which comes closest is the best way to describe it. The meaning is the right path; the word describes the nature of the world in the true sense. (
