In 1 Samuel 17, David shows that he trusts in the Lord. Near the middle of the story, David goes to Saul to talk about him overcoming Goliath the giant. Saul doubts that David, a boy that has never been in an army. He knew that David was just a lowly boy. David explains that he protects his father’s flock from bears and lions. He says that he runs after them with a club and protects the sheep like he will protect the army against a ten foot tall giant. Connecting to the quote, David believes with all his heart that God has got his back. He says, “I have done this to both lions and bears, and I’ll do it to this heathen Philistine too, for he has defied the armies of the living God! The Lord who saved me from the claws and teeth
of the lion and the bear will save me from this Philistine!” (1 Samuel 36-37). Lastly, the quote proves David trusts that God will support him just as he has done for everyday circumstances. Overall, David trusts God with all his heart, he knows that he will be protected.
