Althusser breaks down our accustomed society into these apparatus’, and speaking of our norm, we depend on our participatory democracy. A participatory democracy includes: public discussions/public groups, politics being seen as positive, building a community, etc. The apparatuses breaks down the community of the public democracy. Harvey speaks on how people are connected to our government and Althusser speaks on the same thing. Society’s ideological apparatuses are: religion, education, family, culture, political parties, etc. These things are protected by the Repressive State apparatuses, which are: the police system, courts, prisons, the military, our Judicial system. Societies repressive apparatuses is the public sphere and it is protected by the state, which neoliberalism is trying to abandon. Harvey speaks on how neoliberalism is trying to ban the benefits of the state.
