Day Of The Dead Speech

Day of the dead is a celebration that celebrates our loved, deceased ones. This celebration is held in central and South Mexico on October 31st to November 1st and 2nd. These days are very happy days where everyone gets together and tells about each other’s loved ones. People believe different spirits come out on different days. For example, they believe dead infants and children sprits come out on November 1st. November 2nd are to honor the dead adults. On these two days there is a Catholic holiday called “All Saints’ Day” and “All Souls’ Day.” October 31st is Halloween and they get the festivals ready. They have different and individual festivals or ways to honor the deceased ones. For example, some clean and decorate grave sites. Some also tell stories and/or make sugar skulls to exchange. Some people make altars and let other people come in their house to see them. Publically, Day of the Dead is celebrated with street parties, parades and festivals.
Skulls aren’t a tradition for day of the dead. For instance, over time the sugar skull masks and face paint was inspired by the idea of sugar skulls for gifts for the deceased. For the Aztecs, skulls were a sign of rebirth which as good. To them, death was a step forward to a higher level. This skull face paint is to get over the fear of death. Another example, in the Aztec culture Marigolds were believed to be a way to help the dead guide their way back on the days they visit. The scent helped them.
