I dont agree with level 1 fully because if we decide to cut our greenhouse gasses then , as we are all industrial and making all of our production from our factories that all run on fossil fules or fuels that all produce greenhouse gassess and if we cut the greenhouse gasses all of our transportation and electronics will fail meaning if we were going to help the maldives we couldnt as we would be in havoc, I strongly agrre though that we do need to help the Maldives and to evacutate or help build up the defences .
I agree on the second option far moe than any other option because we are not cutting all of our greenhouse gasses which would cause trouble , instead we are just slowly reducing our output but not so drasticly that we are loosing most of our production .I agree with helping the maldive goverment to counteract the sea levels rising as it would be quite alot hassel if we were to vacate the hole islands .
I agree slightly with option four as i think we should help the maldives by resettling the maldives because they do not have too much time to build massive sea defences , it will also be very helpfull and kind to the maldives to build some new infrastructure for them .I think that we need to start lowering our greenhouse gasses as this could stat getting alot worse for alot more places
I strongly disagree with option four as there is still chance to help them or move them to a new place to set up their new citilization ,we should also try to save the maldive islands aswell. This option does not say anything about trying to stop our own greenhouse gassess which would mean we did not learn from this and can easily happen later in the future

The current cycle of global warming is changing the rhythms of climate that all living things have come to rely upon. What will we do to slow this warming? How will we cope with the changes we 've already set into motion? While we struggle to figure it all out, the face of the Earth as we know it coasts, forests, farms, and snowcapped mountains hangs in the balance. Mitigation means lessening the negative effects of something, usually something that cannot be entirely prevented. Thus a pollution mitigation plan would be a plan to reduce the effects of pollution. My topic I chose too discuss is Global Warming based on saving our water supply.…

    Poe vs HAWTHRONES

Poe and Hawthorne were two American writers who have defined literature as we know it today. They greatly elevated the standards for short fictional stories (“Poe Defines the ‘Well Made Tale’”), and were the first to speak to the human heart and to convey truths that withstand the test of time (“Hawthorne Introduces the Concept of Romance”). Poe placed the emphasis of story writing on a single effect that he wanted to leave with the reader, and developed his stories around that effect or final emotion (“Poe Defines”). Hawthorne, on the other hand, placed importance on the actual representation of the author’s imagination and conception of the world around himself (“Hawthorne Introduces”). These innovative thoughts and experimentations in language have forever changed what we appreciate in writing. Poe and Hawthorne were vital in the development of American literature today because of their inventive uses of symbolism, theme, language, characterization, and setting to embody the main purposes in their short stories, but we see distinctive differences in the way these are used to set the completely different moods required for romance writing and gothic writing.…

This week’s readings had the common theme of global climate change. All of these sources encompassed different aspects of climate change. John Houghton’s “The Greenhouse Effect” was more factual and scientific. S. Goerge Philander’s “The Ozone Hole, A Cautionary Tale” was informational too, however, the piece also discussed global reactions to the rapid climate change. Thomas R. Karl and Kevin E. TrenBerth’s “Modern Global Climate Change”, focused on the intensity of anthropogenic influences of climate change and the dismal projection of the future. In “Stabilization Wedges: Solving the Climate Problem for the Next Fifty Years With Current Technologies”, Stephen Pacala and Robert Socolow went in a different direction and presented a positive outlook on the improvement of the Earth’s current environmental state and introduced the idea of stabilization wedges. Lastly, the IPCC 2014 Summary report is a report that focused on looking at how nations can act to limit climate change. In the rest of this response, I will provide a synopsis of the goals and themes that were displayed in each of the readings. Finally, I will reflect on any questions or concerns the readings have evoked in me.…

Unfortunately, developing countries have placed economic activity before environmental issues. They have reduced manufacturing costs by utilizing inefficient, low technology methods. This puts countries at a disadvantage because they are more likely to be exposed to extreme weather and they have fewer resources to adapt to this than developed countries do. Living in a modern developed country we should improve the lives of the less fortunate by providing them with resources to help prevent their homes from being damaged and also information on how to be more eco-friendly. With the problem of people on the streets, there should be homes where people could have access to and better their lives and become independent. The first most important issue to target is how we could decrease the quantity of carbon dioxide being polluted into the atmosphere to decrease the effects on poor people and people that depend on the resources of earth to…

When dealing with global warming, the practicality of policies is one of the most important and fundamental issues. Yet the policies are useless if they cannot be implemented. As we have limited resources, we should choose to maximize our resources by comparing the benefits and costs of each policy. In other words, the balancing global warming and other problems should be set appropriately. (Source D) Too much burden on economic development lessens the possibility of carrying out the policies. Furthermore, the actual effectiveness is a critical factor when making global warming policies. Thus, the countermeasure to global warming is in a state of emergency. But according to Maslin Mark, the requirements of the Kyoto Protocol are far below the threshold diminution necessary to “prevent major climatic change.” (Source E) In other words, the makers of the Kyoto Protocol should have been considered the actual effect precisely to produce satisfactory results. Therefore, leaders should consider the economic practicality and the extent of expected effect when making policies that may affect global warming.…

As a single measure, education and educational campaigns to sensitize and raise public awareness on the importance of the reefs can be the most comprehensive method of preservation. This measure would require a good deal of government intervention since it may be a costly and large scale effort. The benefit though is that, through education all levels of the population can be made aware of both the threats to the reefs as well as what needs to be done to ensure longevity of these. What is particularly good about an education campaign is the fact that within organized institutions such as schools it need not be a lesson in itself. Instead the lessons can be linked to national identity issues, social studies and geography. In effect then, sensitizing about the reefs can become a curriculum point that would last a life time in the student while building national identity and inculcating loyalty and patriotism.…

This week global social problem continues to deals with the environment this week we will be looking at Japan and the Fukushima nuclear power plant spill that they had back in 2011. One would ask what does a power plant spill that happened three years ago has to do with the rest of the world? It becomes a global social problem when the leak is starting to spread through the Pacific Ocean and neighboring countries. “The Japanese government has finally asked for global aid to stem radioactive leaks entering the Pacific Ocean, which is endangering the world’s food supply and ecosystems”. Japan is one of the world largest consumer and exporter of fish; they export 1.6 billion dollars in fish yearly. When fish is one of your main staple in food this does not only impact what you are going to eat but also the amount of money circulating around your country. Appadurai’s scapes is one that I will be using yet again; to begin we have the finance scape due to the spill affecting the ocean and the wild life there the amount of fish that Japan would export and also the amount that the Japanese people would consume decreases because of the food being contaminated. Another one of his scapes would be media scape because of globalization we have access to new reports much faster than we did in the past; because of this advancement more people around the world knows about this situation and because of that more and more researches are pressing Tepco to give clear information about what is really going on with the water. With the advancement that we have in technology the Japanese people are able to make storage tanks that hold water that is supposed to cool the…
