Dear Santa
I know you’re a busy guy this time of year and you have a ton of mail to get through – almost all of it from children under 8. I’m hoping that because I am almost a teenager and you might consider my letter in the interest of other letters. Like the letters you received from my younger brothers I’m going to list several things I hope you can deliver – please bring as many as you can. It seems a bit selfish, I know, but I’m hoping this is just because as a preteen I’m conditioned to give rather than request this holiday season. So I don’t seem quite to selfish, I’ll at least try and explain my list.

I think I’ve been pretty good this year and I should by on the “nice” list if so please bring me: money so I can have McDonalds for the rest of my life, Tickets for any football event, and my very own sports stadium. The reason why I want those things is because it involves two of my favorite things, eating and playing sports.

Anyway, that’s my list. You may be surprised even though a preteen like me didn’t ask for a sports car, boat or a phone - I’m guessing you get a lot of that. I know I’ve asked for a lot – probably too much – my understanding is that you have excellent toy manufacturing facilities at your disposal as that is your core business, but I’m hoping you may have some ability to get things done in my country. I’m sorry that many kids think you’re fake even though your real but let me be the first to say that they do NOT represent all of us kids. Thanks for doing what you do – Merry Christmas from Noah.

Hey Virginia, there is more than just a Santa Claus. Nowadays, Americans have either forgotten or ignored Christmas traditions put in place over 1500 years ago. They would rather indulge in the gifts and shopping to please their family than sit back and enjoy the holiday. This new mindset has led Christmas, Hanukkah, and other seasonal festivals to lose their religious intent through the past centuries by the hands of both people and markets. The original purpose of Christmas, celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, has been trampled and overshadowed by a marketeer’s interpretation of how to represent the holiday. Santa and snowmen have become the faces of Christmas, instead of the Son…

Every time Christmas arrives, Santa Claus is on the minds of many children across the country. Their belief about a jolly old man in red called Santa Claus often results from the parents’ harmless lies of Santa’s existence. Once the kids are old enough to use logic and reason, they begin to question the inconsistencies of their childhood story and come to realize that Santa Clause doesn’t exist, thus altering their belief because the reality of Santa’s nonexistence has always been concealed. In Harper Lee’s debatable novel To Kill a Mockingbird, Scout and her brother Jem are exposed to many injustices of Maycomb through their process of growing up. As the story progresses, perceptions and ideas that the characters, especially the children,…

The Great Depression of the 1930s was by far the greatest economic catastrophe in the history of the United States. The collapse of the economy was a devastating blow to the national morale and left the nation in financial ruins. In 1931, Franklin Delano Roosevelt was elected president on campaign promises to restore jobs and prosperity to the country. His proposal, the New Deal, fundamentally changed the nation. The New Deal affected the country by providing jobs and was to be a means of giving the nation a sense of hope. However, despite the positive actions that took place, the New Deal did not fix the job unemployment problems nor did the economy improve to pre Depression levels until many years after the New Deal was initiated.…

Meanwhile in my own country, the collapse of the stock market has sent my country’s economy in a downward plunge. Therefore, what I would like is for you to help the economy get back to where it used to be. Immediately after World War 1, my economy rose up to great heights as the war had helped create jobs and our financial position helped us loan money to other countries. The depression has caused a ripple effect that has been reflected in the European countries as well.…
