Death Penalty: An illegal matter that should be legal.
I’m sure you have heard several points of view about a very controversial topic: the death penalty. (AG) Many people are against this type of punishment, but there is also a part of the population that is in favor. In my case, I am a part of the firm believers that death penalty should be legal throughout the country. (Thesis) The purpose of this essay is to remark the facts of why is it, that death penalty should be legal and applicable to criminals and the positive effect that it could have on our country. (Purpose)
There are many reasons as to why I believe the death penalty should be legalized in the country. The use of this punishment can really scare citizens from committing crimes such as murder. As we all know death is the biggest fear for humans; therefore if they know that death is a possible consequence for their actions, they are less likely to perform these actions. Being in jail in my point of view should be only for people who committed other type of faults, not murder. Murderers in jail are receiving free health care, food, water, in other words basic necessities of life. It is really unfair in my perspective for them to be alive weather it is on jail or left free, while they took away the right to life of an innocent person. If an innocent victim has lost their right to life from a murderer, why on earth can that murderer live on? Where is the justice for innocent people? (Body)
In a study conducted by Isaac Ehrlich in 1973, it was found that for each execution of a criminal seven potential victim’s lives were saved. This was due to other possible murderers abstaining from committing murder after realizing that other criminals are executed for crimes.
