Declaration of Independence Principles Essay How well is our government upholding the principles of the Declaration of Independence? Our government makes laws that are equal and fair to everyone. We all have basic rights like life, liberty, freedom of religion and right to fair trial. The government so far has been doing a better job. However, now we have a new president and I’m curious on to what he has in mind. Some of the things happening in the United States to people are not equal. I believe our government upholds many principles of the Declaration of Independence. The government creates many laws to keep citizens safe, yet sometimes we discriminate and take laws
into our own hands. Like when African American people get treated like they did something wrong even though they might not have. I do not believe this new law of getting rid of illegal immigrants is fair. They are hard workers and we need more hard workers in the United States. I believe we are doing well upholding the basic rights. For example, depending on what crime you have committed we all have the right to a fair trial. I feel like our government does a good job upholding basic rights and letting the people have some say in our government. Like when we get to vote we have a say on who we want to be our president. We can also create new laws and change laws by contacting a representative and getting them on your side. Also protesting is a good idea but do it safely. I really believe we are doing well upholding these principles.
Furthermore, the government today needs some changes but is also doing good with upholding the principles. Maybe more citizens should do something about these laws if they have a problem with them. I’m proud but kind of ashamed of how our government is turning out today.
