The Declaration of Independence was written and created with the purpose of the colonists gaining freedom from Great Britain. The purpose of The Declaration of Independence in 1776 was to give the other countries of the world the reasons the colonists had for their war with England. The Revolutionary War already started and many major battles had been fought. The colonists were trying to not have any connections with England and had already gotten rid of most of the major connections. The Declaration of Independence is a major event that does different things for different people. Breaking off from Great Britain meant freedom; mainly freedom of religion, speech and expression.
