Many ancient societies believed that dreams were a means of communication with divine beings. In 1900, psychoanalyst, Sigmund Freud, published a book entitled The Interpretation of Dreams. In his book, Freud argues that dream content was motivated by “wish-fulfillment.” Even in present day, a vast proportion of individuals believe dreams hold meaning. Although I personally do not believe in dream interpretation, I still find the logic and reasoning behind such interpretations to be very intriguing.

For each dream, I will design two “movie posters” and write two “film summaries.” Why two? I plan to design one poster and summary inspired by the literal dream (or “manifest” content). The second poster and summary will be inspired by the “latent” content of the dream, what the dream means after being “interpreted.”
As I am not an expert in dream interpretation, I will likely consult sources online and a close friend who does, in fact, interpret dreams. Of course, dreams can be interpreted in multiple ways, so I will have to choose with interpretation is the best representation of the dream.
I will be looking at various movie posters for inspiration, primarily focusing on ones from the early 2010s or art-deco styled posters, as for someone as inexperienced with graphic design as me, the more minimalist approach from this period of time is slightly more feasible to reproduce (although admittedly difficult to imitate well). As of now, I plan on creating these posters through traditional mediums (paper cutouts, sketches, etc.) as I have some experience with that. However, I would ideally like to try my hand at Photoshop. However, there is a fair chance that I will fail
