Culture Diversity
What’s culture diversity? Many people could have a different meaning to the words culture diversity. Some could say separating the white from black, others could say where people come from. But no those are not the meaning of that word, correct meaning is the inclusion of diverse people in a group or organization. Now when it comes to hospitals churches, school ad etc. it could play a big role in life. But meanly you would see culture take place mostly in hospitals. In the article “Culture Diversity what role does it play in patient?” by Katherine B. Ardoin and Kathleen B. Wilson both RN. Can nurses, doctors, medical assistance, and etc. really ask a family member, or a friend to interpreter for the patients? A patient that doesn’t really understand English would have hard time to understand, communicate, and etc. The article is about a nurse name Mary gets a Chinese patient that had an automobile accident. These barriers could help nurses and patients have a better communication. The first barrier is communication, it could lead to misunderstanding and preventable adverse events. Second barrier is space, violation of someone personal area and lack of participation in follow-up care. Third barrier is social organization, giving family to decision making and religious values. Fourth barrier is time, reward motivate actions and present time are less likely to place value on follow up care. Fifth barrier is environmental control, people from different cultural do not attempt to control and are less in getting less health care. The finally barrier is biologic variations, give rise to differences in drug metabolism. One of the ethnic group is Asian they have small physical stature it could be a risk by taking regular dose of drugs may be toxic. It could be solve by monitoring for toxicity and anticipate dose
