Demographic Information Shelby is a 17-year-old Caucasian female who identifies as a lesbian. The client, who will be referred to as S.H., is five feet and four inches tall. S.H. has a very thin build and has some muscle definition in her arms. S.H. has thin, straight, think hair that is a natural light brown. The client usually wears her hair down with her bangs covering her right eye, periodically she will sweep them away from her face however they fall right back into place. The client wears no glasses or contacts. S.H. has a thin oval shaped face. S.H. has thin light pink lips, big deep-set brown eyes, and a pale complexion with no flushing or freckles. The client has laugh lines from her constant smile. The client used to wear braces …show more content…
does not identify as being religious but she celebrates U.S. holidays such as Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter with her family. She does not report having any special ethnic or cultural considerations during the year. S.H. reported remember her only ever being attracted to women, even at the age of six or seven. The client refers to herself as “gay” or “lesbian” in sessions. S.H. has dated two females since she has expressed her sexual preference to her family. S.H. is currently in a relationship with Savannah, another 17-year-old female who goes to North Vigo High School. Another multicultural component is age difference. The client is 17 years old and is still find her place in life while in the process of maturing into a young adult. S.H. has had jobs while in high school which gave her a sense of autonomy. However, with experiencing some personal freedom she now wishes she were completely independent from her family. The client believes she is already “an adult” and is “a couple months away from 18” which to her means freedom from her family and a hope that she will be able to live on her own. S.H., at her current level of mental and emotional development, believes that 18 can be a magical age that will release her of the family burdens she has been surrounded by all her …show more content…
received “good grades” during grade school and middle school. She attended both grade school and middle school in Vigo County. When S.H. began high school at West Vigo, she began getting C's in her courses. She does not like her classes but she does enjoy art class because she likes to draw. The client has had to retake Biology twice, and is taking it a third time at North Vigo but currently has a D in the course. She fears if she cannot pass the class she will be unable to graduate. The client stated all of her graduates, aside from Biology, have improved after moving schools. She is fearful she will have to go to McLean Education Center, which is the alternative school if she cannot raise her Biology
