Depression is a mental disorder that might be caused by a bad personal experience or other life changing situations. This story illustrates the life of a college girl that suffers depression and how she felt about it. Rosie finds out that she is not the only person that suffers from this common psychological stress within a college lifestyle. Thereafter, she began to do research on depression within college students and other psychological problems that they face. She later realizes that her research directed her into a path that made her feel as if she was one of the psychologists evaluating a patient; this patient was herself. Depression maybe defined as when an individual has low self-esteem and no confidence on itself as a person. This can be caused by many different occurrences, for example, past relationships, child abuse, obesity, loneliness, etc. Some people even die from depression, however not because the disease itself killed them, but they either commit suicide or end up harming other people as well. One great example of this is the Columbine High School massacre in 1999 where two teenagers that attended such school went around killing their classmates and then killing themselves. Another example is the 2007 Virginia Tech massacre, where a college student killed his classmates. After some research done by the local authorities, it was deduced that the killers suffered form depression. However, depression is not an incurable disease. After an individual is diagnosed with depression, it is recommended for that person to seek professional help from a psychologist or a psychiatrist; depending on how severe the issue is. During the therapy weeks or sometimes months, the person that was diagnosed will need the most support from his close friends and family in order to overcome the situation.
