Introduction.
There is considerable information that people do not know about depression, and at least at some point in one’s lives have gone through this condition. Many people have experienced some unhappiness or sadness as part of changes that happen in everyday life. Feelings of pain often are transient, even this can help develop and mature personal situations that arise in life. However, if sadness persists, this hurt may indicate a depressive problem. The duration, severity and other symptoms that occur are those that distinguish between a passing sadness to a clinical depressive problem.
Definition.
Depression is usually a mood that goes beyond the feeling of being sad, it is a disease that mainly affects the emotions, mood, behavior and more (Buck, 2008).
Types of depression
Major depressive disorder or major depression. Dysthymic disorder or dysthymia.
Minor depression.
Factors.
There are many factors that affect people with depression. Among them is abuse, whether physical, emotional or sexual abuse can cause depression.
Cancer.
AIDS.

the United States, about 20 million people suffer depression at some point in their lives, in fact, depression is to develop into a global epidemic (Lanier,
E., 2003).

121 million people suffer depression worldwide.
This gradually affects people in many areas of their lives as it is in their relationships, work and reduces their quality of life (Depression; global depression statistics,

Family or work problems.
Loss of material or family.
Some medications such as corticosteroids, certain antiviral and some acne medication.
Serious diseases such as AIDS, cancer or body mutilation.
