After undergraduate, another seven years of education and training follows. Competence is so significant because it will ensure great treatment to patients. Dermatology is always advancing with more knowledge and ideas so, the only way to stand out is through competence. According to O-NET, “Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options implement solutions” is an essential complex problem solving skill, for dermatologist.
Being faced with problems and obstacles is inevitable but, for dermatologist, problem solving is an everyday task because their is always an issue and how its tackled is important to the life of their patients. The best way to tackle problems is to use critical thinking. First, come up with all possible solutions; then, analyze each solution; lastly, implement the best solution. Not saying that problem solving will be easy but, that's the intriguing complexity about the job; Putting heads together to tackle an issue but, once you realize that the correct solution was chosen, It feels like heavyweight has been lifted up from your
shoulder. I have recently done some thinking and realized I will be nearly twenty-seven years old once I earn my doctoral degree. Becoming a doctor is like being an athlete. These two careers both take dedication: the quality of being committed to a task or purpose. Dermatology is highly specialized field takes time, money, and effort. Eventually, at the end of the process, all the hard work will pay off with great benefits. As a dermatologist, it is essential to manage one’s own time and the time of others. A benefit to being a dermatologist is the work schedule. “Dermatology is a really good specialty for a lot of reasons. You work pretty normal hours”(Beckham). For example, she works 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday. Work hours are one of my favorite aspects of being a dermatologist; the benefit of making a schedule that fit you perfectly because most doctors don't have that benefit. These are all four significant skills inside my chosen occupation, as a dermatologist. Each skill implements parts to my personality. I made the decision to become a dermatologist through my interest for aesthetics. Having competence, complex problem solving skills, dedication, and time management are required essentials to get through as a biology major and a dermatologist.
