Why was Mary Ann Shadd Cary famous? Mary Ann Shadd Cary is famous for being one of the first black woman to enter law school. She was the first black woman to create a newspaper. And she argued with just about everybody. She demanded justice for black Americans.
Early Life She was born in 1823. She and her family were free, but they didn’t have the rights and freedoms of a white American. When Mary Ann was little her father ran a show-making business. They helped slaves traveling through the underground railroads. They gave slaves food and shoes that came from the company. Her early life wasn’t very good, because she always saw runaway slaves and wondered if they would be captured and beat to death.

I would describe her as strong. Also, commanding and self-reliant. A reason I would describe her like this is because she stood up for what she believed in. Also, when she wanted something she always had her eyes pinpointed on that one thing until it was accomplished. Lastly, she always survived hard times, no matter what it was.
Inspirations
The way Mary Ann Shadd Cary inspired me is that she accomplished many things. She did many things in two years that not many people do in their lifetime. Also, she did many things that I always wanted to do, like stand up for what I believe in.
Conclusion
The reason I think that Mary Ann Shadd CAry was important to Black History is because she fought for what we earned in 1900. Also, because she was an amazing person that didn’t care what race you was, she would help if she could. Although, there was was many other black women such as Ida B. Wells-Barnett, Mary Church Terrell, and Mary McLeod Bethune, to step foward to carry on her fight for justice for American blacks. But, Mary Ann Shadd Cary did and always will come
