Describe Realistic Strategies That Canadians Could Take to Reduce Their Negative Impact on Land, Water and the Atmosphere.
Describe realistic strategies that Canadians could take to reduce their negative impact on land, water and the atmosphere.

Ever since the dawn of industrialization, humans have caused serious, irreversible damage to the biosphere. And as the world progresses and Canadians looks on, they realized the impact of their environmental damage. Sometimes new ecofriendly technology enters the market and replaces the old environment damaging one. But that is not enough, human society as a whole must completely rethink and change themselves individually to so that their actions causes minimal environmental backlash. Though the problem of environmental damage is a global one, there is nothing stopping Canadians from solving it in their own country. The essay will focus on realistic strategies that Canadians could take to reduce their negative impact on land, water, and the atmosphere. The land is everywhere. It is where we live, the road, and anywhere that we can walk on. But perhaps the most important component of land is soil. Almost all our fruits and vegetables are grown in the soil. To conserve this resource and prevent desertification, Canadians can do many things. Planting trees as wind breaks, using the technique of contour plowing to reduce erosion, and having proper farming equipment can preserve the soil and prevent is from turning into a desert. Another problem concerning land is pollution. Since the land is the area all humans live on, there is no logical reason why people should pollute it. Canadians can start using biodegradable plastic bags or the reusable cloth bags. They should utilize their compost and recycling bins, taking time to sort through their garbage rather than just throw it all in the same bin. An extra step would be adding an electronic device or battery recycling bin to every house hold so harmful chemicals would not end up leaking into the soil. Water is essential to life. The average person needs at least five litres a day to

Since moving to Canada, my parents occasionally took me out to see the beautiful outdoors where the flowers blossomed in the springtime sunlight, or where the fish danced in the clear river waters of fall. Never in my life had I imagined how wondrous Canada’s landscape and native inhabitants were. Even the Canadians themselves appeared, at times, strange and confusing to me as a child. The indescribable cold chill I felt down my back (and still do to this day) the first time I stepped out of the plane, as an immigrant from China, was so startling that I still remember feeling like a bear woken up in the middle of his hibernation. I felt like I had stepped into someone else’s ‘house’ and was captivated by all the things that I had never had, nor had seen before. A few years past and I started to realize that that ‘house’ known as Canada had become my very own home as well; a very beautiful home. Marc Garneau in his article, “Canada Must Put the Planet’s Interests First”, shared his opinion of how beautiful he felt that the entire planet was and that we should protect it so that it stays that way for future generations to come. Despite showing strong belief in Canadians making the first move in saving the Earth, I believe that anyone with knowledge of the planet’s current condition, including myself, after reading his essay has reason to agree with, or listen to him because he has a tone that is not forceful but rather friendly and conversational, he has an admirable argument with important supporting details, and he is clearly emphasizing the things that he thinks the reader should remember about his essay.…

The current cycle of global warming is changing the rhythms of climate that all living things have come to rely upon. What will we do to slow this warming? How will we cope with the changes we 've already set into motion? While we struggle to figure it all out, the face of the Earth as we know it coasts, forests, farms, and snowcapped mountains hangs in the balance. Mitigation means lessening the negative effects of something, usually something that cannot be entirely prevented. Thus a pollution mitigation plan would be a plan to reduce the effects of pollution. My topic I chose too discuss is Global Warming based on saving our water supply.…

In his essays “Kids, Trees, and Climate Change” and “The Green Dream” Mark Hertsgaard informs us of a current would issue that is occurring that was created by humans, global warming. Americans should take global warming as a serious matter because it could extinct some plants or animals due to the climate warming up which is not suitable for some species. Also it creates ice caps to melt at rapid speeds which could lead to parts of the states that live on a border of the ocean to flood. Mark describes the issue and advises what needs to be done by first grabbing our attention. Climate change and global warming are important issues that affect everyone on planet earth. The future of our planet is reliant on us solving this issue. Canada has done a lot to be an active contributor to the minimizing this problem such as signing the Paris agreement, which deals with greenhouse gases and emissions mitigation. It is very important for Canada as a developed nation to play a large role in this conversation. Canada may not be number 1 in greenhouse emission but our emission are rather disproportionate to our population in the world. Canada consume more energy than all African nation’s combined. Therefore I believe Canada could be doing more to address this problem. Canada can help reduce carbon emissions by investing and…

When a force as strong as gravity strikes, can one truly be prepared to face its wrath? Unfortunately, Mother Nature is unpredictable in her many forms, and climate change is another embodiment. People around the world are ignorant of the subtly approaching climate change and its dangers, while the vulnerable indigenous people of the north have fallen victim to its threats. Health in Nunavut, Canada has been a rising concern in recent years. The reading, “Community perspectives on the impact of climate change on health in Nunavut, Canada,” written by Healey et al, states that the consequences of climate change will result in environment assault, rapidly deteriorating health and loss of identity that will one day lead to an international crisis.…

Dealing with Negative externalities has become increasing important as they shape our future in not only our economy but also in our environment. “Externalities are at the root of all kinds of policy issues, from the mundane to those that literally threaten the planet”(Wheelan, p.56) Most scientist would agree that one of the major issues that threatens the plant today is Global warming. Global warming is a difficult eternality to deal with because it is a Global problem not just a regional problem, therefore in order to address this issue everyone must play by the same rules. “A steel plant in Pennsylvania emits CO2 that may one day cause flooding in Bangladesh. (Meanwhile, acid rain caused by U.S. emissions is already killing Canadian forest.)”(Wheelan, p.58) This is just one example of many that governments are work to…
