Describe The Importance Of Safeguarding
Safeguarding is defined as working together to safeguard children. It is important that everyone protects the welfare of children and that they are able to keep them from harm. Safeguarding is:
• The protection of children from maltreatment
• The prevention the impairment of children's health and development
• Ensuring children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care and taking action to enable all children have the best outcomes
In England laws state that people who work with children have to keep the children safe. The safeguarding legislation is set out in The Children Act (1989) and Convention on the Rights f the child (to which the UK is a signatory) and this sets out the rights of the children
