Helping to safeguard children means taking part in multi - agency children's safeguarding inspections, getting a good picture of children's experiences and how well they are being safeguarded.
• Adults: protecting their rights to live in safety, free from abuse and neglect, multi - agencies coming together to use prevention of abuse; making sure peoples wellbeing is promoted ensuring their views, opinions, feelings and wishes are taken into account. Use of the governments prevent and channel programme; which focuses on early intervention designed to safeguard adults. As well as stopping people from becoming involved in violent extremism or supporting terrorism.

POVA was introduced by the Care standards act 2000 in 2004; this scheme has a list of anyone who has abused, neglected or otherwise harmed a vulnerable adult whilst in their care or placed them at risk and aims to ensure that no-one on this list is allowed to work in the care sector. The main aims of POVA is to protect vulnerable people from abuse and neglect; ensuring that the quality of care in which people receive is of high standard - whereas safeguarding focuses on putting the vulnerable adults at the centre of their needs to improve their life
