Explain Child Protection Within The Wider Concept Of Safeguarding
Child protection is all about safeguarding children and promoting their welfare and development. It was put into place to protect those children suffering from any kind of abuse. Child protection and safeguarding have been put in place to ensure children are brought up in a caring family, who show love towards them. A family who provide and treat their child correctly are also preventing them from any health problems or delays in their development. Parents or carers who fail to care for their children in the correct way could have them removed from them and they could go to court. This then means the child will go into a care home or go to live with a foster family. Safeguarding can also consists of risk assessments for example ensuring there’s a safe area inside and outside of the setting. It could also include following the school policies and procedures, this could contain regularly having a fire drill to ensure children know what to do if a real fire does happen, as well as health and safety of the children at the setting. Also by encouraging learning and development of children and young people within the work place setting. All staff at the setting have a responsibility to safeguard children and young people during the time they spend in school or nursery. You can also protect children by not allowing visitors into the setting without a CRB check. …show more content…

At our setting we have a number of other settings and policies that help us to safeguard children. One of the is Health and safety policy this protects children and we have to make sure that "sandbank nursery is a clean and safe working environment for both children and staff." This means no children would be under any risk as every thing is checked daily when we do a daily risk assessment of the outside area and the nursery. Also to help protect children we have a parent group on Wednesday and family support workers come in and have different discussions to the parents about how to deal with different situations involving the children this gives the parents knowledge in what is the appropriate way to handle situations.
