Hawaii is the most generic place out there. It is not seen as beautiful to its people's eyes anymore. Beautiful man sculpted beaches, tourist spots taking over, and exotic foods replacing authentic foods. Hawaii has got it all! Just like any other big tourist spot in the world now a days. Hawaii is no longer unique for its Hawaiian essence. Tourist come to Hawaii in order to experience and get a glimpse of the “Hawaiian lifestyle”, or well what they think it is. They come for the beautiful beaches and Hawaii’s natural beauty. But what they’re really getting is a stereotypical view of Hawaii. Through the years Hawaii has been losing its true image and it will continue to with the increase demand to turn it into more of a tourist spot. There are complaints and strikes on protecting the land but the people of the land isn’t as important as the tourist. Ancient tombs, sacred land, etc. aren’t even close to being fought for if it's to “benefit” the island. It’s about “improving” than preserving, more “efficient” than being respectful, it’s about.. Just making this place just like any other place out there. Lastly, though there are still many similarities from the Mainland and Hawaii, Hawaii is still very unique. There will always be the Hawaiian Vibe one can only get on the islands that will be authentic that could never be considered generic. Hawaii is filled with one big Ohana: family, and family doesn’t leave anyone forgotten. Many changes have been happening to the islands and still are in this very moment. There will always be the memories and stories to look back in order to try and recreate a moment or tradition that once lived but at a rate of too much change happening, it is too hard to predict if anything will be
