Photography is like any other art where the sky is the limit. The most important component to photography is the camera. I have a Nikon D3000 SLR digital camera. It is like one of my children. I go everywhere with it and when I don’t have I always feel like something is missing. It helps me bring my creative side to life and gives me just the shot I am looking for. It is heavy and sometimes a pain to carry but the weight is worth it for the end results. It has endless settings that I can adjust to achieve what it is I am trying to create. When I look through the view finder I look at a whole new world. My camera consists of a body and a lens. The lens is detachable allowing me to attach different types and lengths of lenses that will help in creating a masterpiece. On the camera there is a flash and a control knob that I can turn to change the type of style I want to shoot such as automatic or manual. It has a display screen that shows me the settings I am using and tells me if those specific settings are appropriate for the location I am in. Furthermore, there are plenty of attachments that I can add to my camera to enhance my work. The camera also features built in guidance that is great for beginners. The Nikon D3000 SLR digital camera is a great camera to capture some amazing pictures with the many settings it offer’s, the attachments that can be added along with the built in guidance it is easy to use and gives you the results you are looking

One, I have never realized how just one photograph can stop a moment in time. Freeze all emotions, actions, and thoughts. To be able to do that is a real special talent. And if the picture is a good picture, a person is able to guess what the person(s) is feeling, saying, and thinking in the photo. And the other realization I made was when you look at an old picture you start to feel nostalgic and filled with wonder. A wonder that takes you into the photograph’s world and gives you a taste of what the time period was like. A good picture, in my opinion, should tell a story. And most pictures do that because the photographer is telling the story of their life through the pictures they take. At the beginning of this term, I was very confused and didn’t have a clue on what to do or what to take pictures of. I continued to be confused and nervous when I developed my first roll of film, when I made my first proof/contact sheet, and when I made my first picture. Slowly everything I learned from this class and what I knew previously came together; I became more confident as the term progressed. So confident, I was asked to help other students make proof sheets and pictures. With wanting to go into the photographing world, this class helped me recognize what a good picture and photographer needs to become successful. The process of winding film, developing film, creating test strips, and finally, printing the image is a long process to say the least. I feel grateful with the technology we do have; for example, digital cameras, memory cards, photo printers at…

Firstly, there are many different kinds of photography, such as; wedding, military, medical, and wildlife photography as Zeke from New York Film Academy explains. “Photography records the gamut of feelings written on the human face, the beauty of the earth and skies that man has inherited, and the wealth and confusion man has created. It is a major force in explaining man to man,” said Edward Steichen, a well-known American photographer. To those who discover it, photography is a life enhancing and fulfilling profession and hobby. It is a creative outlet with low barriers of entry and accessible to all, at anytime and anywhere. It provides the photographer with an opportunity to present his ideas, opinions, and beliefs in the most descriptive way without having to utter a word. That allows people who do not have the ability to communicate, due to language or geographic barriers, to connect with each other in ways they would not otherwise be able to relate. It is the creativity, accessibility, and the beauty of photography that I find captivating.…

My love for photography began when I was a child. When I was a child photography to me was just grabbing a camera and taking a picture. In a childs eyes everything they see or do is viewed differently than an adult would see it. I saw photography just messing around with a camera. As i got older, I realized there was so much more to taking a good picture than just pressing a button. When I started my freshman year in highschool, I decided that I wanted to explore going further with photography. I enrolled…

    Is Film Dead

When I started out as a budding photographer, digital photography was in its developmental stage. It was only beginning to have an impact on the world as a serious art form. I believe the foundations of how a good photograph should be composed is getting lost and somewhat neglected. With the transformation of the photography world moving from traditional film to the more modern digital, people are taking less time to notice and understand what they are taking a photo of. In the words of Ken Rockwell, the most important thing to make a good photograph is ‘strong underlying compositional order’. This includes composition, colour(or lack thereof ), lighting and individuality. Digital cameras are evolving more and more each year , and are making it easier to forget what it takes to build a great photograph. The new generation of photographers are quite often missing out on learning the skills required to use and develop film cameras. In my opinion, all newcomers to the world of photography should learn to use and develop film properly and efficiently. In this way, the traditional art of film is offered as an alternative to digital, and gives new photographers the option to continue their studies and career with this art form. I believe this will help film be established as a way of photography just as important as digital. With no introduction to film cameras…

I learned a lot about photography from the decisive moment. The decisive moment is a moment in time that has a special idea. Things like motion blur, exposure, the frustration of getting the perfect shot and ideas for later projects. The usage of the camera show the motion of object or lack of motion. The shutter speed is an important artistic decision. The artist decides if he or she wants to slow it down for a streaky look capturing more light and blurs what is in motion in comparison to the camera, a fast shutter speed for a frozen picture or an average shutter speed for an regular picture. The warping of movement creates an illusion of time moving all around or the stopping of time capturing what happens in an instant and will never happen…

“When you smoke herb, it reveals yourself to you,” is a famous quote of the pothead and marvelous musician Bob Marley. He felt as though marijuana helped tune in with your inner being. I believe cannabis that cannabis does this too and therefore have become a habitual marijuana consumer. Being in tune with ones inner being is important, yet not the reason that I smoke cannabis. The cannabis plant is beautiful, from the leaf to the buds you smoke. I love the ‘highs’ from smoking marijuana, and last but not least, I love how I can function while ‘high’. The summary is that little nuggets of joy have been crucial in making me who I am now, and I am grateful for everything marijuana has brought.…
