Nowaday, one of the best ways to store memories and capture amazing worldly events is through picture-taking. Being a photographer starts out as a passion, but it can progress to a fulfilling career that spreads happiness to others. The world of photography is opened through understanding of the different kinds of photography, different styles, and salary ranges.

Photography salaries vary greatly because of the many types and styles of picture-taking. Wedding photographers make the widest range of salary of $15,000 to over $100,000 (Zeke). Military photographers can expect to make around $17,000 to $63,000 (Zeke). Medical photographers make a steady living with an income of $41,000 to $59,000 (Zeke). Wildlife photographers make a concrete figure of $28,000 (Zeke). Overall the salaries of any two photographers are very unlikely to be the same as photography sales are unpredictable.
To be a successful photographer, one must understand the different kinds of photography, different styles, and salary ranges. Photography starts out as a hobby that can eventually turn into a means of making a living. However, salaries have a very wide range and can steer people away. This is why photography is primarily a side passion along with another job or just a talent to store family memories according to the Bureau of Labor

Throughout Chad Orzel’s book, Eureka! Discover your inner scientist he heavily emphasises that science can be connected to most of our everyday activities. He demonstrates this by using the scientific method that is looking, thinking, testing, and sharing. Each step can be seen being used in everyday activities like Crosswords, Angry Birds, or Where's Waldo. I believe photography uses all 4 of the steps. Photography has grown a lot over the years. Instagram Snapchat and smartphones have helped bring photography to the mainstream. Lots of people are growing an interest in photography. This has lead people to believe that photography isn’t complicated or takes a lot of thinking. People think it's as easy as point and shoot. There is however a lot more than that, such as settings to adjust and hours of time spent into editing a picture. While it may not appear that a photography class may be of use to a public health major, I have taken from this course many skills which I can use to be a more productive individual. The skills will not only be useful to my future civilian career but to my future military career as well. The first and perhaps most important of these skills is time management. This class is more in depth than simply snapping a few photographs, time needs to be set aside in order to properly develop film and print photographs as well. Failure to do so leads to a person falling behind in their work. Time management is a universal skill that I can use in any future career, but it is especially imperative to those who are officers in the United States Army. In the Army everything takes place at a set time and failure to comply with the time you have been given results in negative reports or ineffective results.…

For decades stories have been printed to spread news to readers around the world, but it was the conception of photojournalism which created the real capturing of events and brought stories to life for readers. It was a photo that captured the execution of a suspected Vietnam terrorist and the terror of a young girl on fire that shocked readers around the globe and changed the way they viewed the Vietnam War. It was a photo of the battleship Maine sinking near Cuba that increased popularity and support for Cuban independence from Spain and U.S. involvement in the Spanish-American War. It was a combination of photos of the Great Depression and the Korean War that changed the way people viewed the world. Photography creates a “real life” perspective of stories and events and adds aesthetic pleasure that a written story alone cannot do. It is this reason that photojournalism became popularized and took on such a significant role in broadcasting and news coverage. Photojournalism can be observed in political, sports and entertainment magazines, adding pictorial narrative and realistic depictions of events for readers.…

Photography is like any other art where the sky is the limit. The most important component to photography is the camera. I have a Nikon D3000 SLR digital camera. It is like one of my children. I go everywhere with it and when I don’t have I always feel like something is missing. It helps me bring my creative side to life and gives me just the shot I am looking for. It is heavy and sometimes a pain to carry but the weight is worth it for the end results. It has endless settings that I can adjust to achieve what it is I am trying to create.
