One would need to have a bachelor's degree in journalism, photography, visual communications or related field. Some of the special skills are needed are photo editing, writing, proofreading, reporting and photographic techniques. Some of the requirements for photojournalism programs typically require submission of a portfolio before beginning the program as well as transcripts and test scores in some cases. Although for having to go to school for photojournalism, by becoming a great photojournalism the outcome of those years having to go to school will be worth it.
