the rest of the people at detention. She also does not deny the fact she would acknowledge any of them at school if she were to see them because they are not as cool as her. I do truly believe there is more then Claire then just her outward appearance and behaviors. Claire is constantly trying to model the status quo behavior and appearance.
All of this, is a reflection of her everyday’s life “demands”. Claire states, ”I hate it. I hate having to go along with everything my friends say.” This also doesn’t fit her stereotype, because she is suppose to be perfect. She talks about the different pressures she has from both her social environment and her home life. Even though, she does not want to be stuck up like her friends, she feels like she has to because it is what others expect of her. Her parents constantly fight and are constantly arguing. They use her to get back at each other. Therefore, they use material items to win her love. She is constantly feeling the pressures from her life, which is why I believe she will continue along this
path. Personally, being in high school and seeing different girls around me, I do not believe Claire will change. I do not think she will break out of her stereotype either. I have seen so many girls that are in the same “popular” friend group that Claire may be in. Although, I know they do not want to be mean and stuck up like their friends, they continue with the same patterns. They stick with status quo. They are scared to break out of this. This is the same way I see Claire. In 5 years Claire will be the same Claire, in the sorority house, and in the prestigious college her parents can afford for her. She will be on some private island escaping all of her new life pressures during spring break. Later on in her life, I believe she will end up just like her parents. Although, she despises her parents relationship I believe she will end up in the same one as them. Claire, will forever stick with the status quo. Most people will say Claire will change! This situation changed her, but in reality it probably wouldn’t she is too caught up in the her lifestyle and her status to change. Why would she ruin her popularity with the whole school for four people? She wouldn’t. Claire is the real princess because of her appearance, her actions, her life, and her future.
