I reach my destination just as the sun begins its decent. Sighing contently, I sit down at the top of the cliff to observe the setting sun. On the left, the town lights up as the sunlight reflects off the shiny rooftops of the shops and business buildings. The glass windows and doors shine with a brilliance that cannot be seen up close but from a distance, it is magical. The pink aura encasing the town seems surreal as my eyes follow the people heading toward their homes after a hard day’s work. A cool breeze brushes past me from the right and takes my attention to the sea.
The sea is breathtaking as the golden sun slowly disappears into the horizon. The now calm water sparkles brightly and the warm light gradually decreases, making the illuminated parts stand out. The air smells of salt even from the height and the temperature drops quickly. The sunset is a beautiful moment, the clouds lighting up as though on fire. The trees sway in the refreshing breeze even the birds fly to the nests, cawing softly to bid their friends goodnight. The red light of the evening sky is visible until the sun is completely gone from the picture.
The atmosphere has darken considerably and for a while, it seems as if it would stay that way. Before long, the stars peep out and soon the place is once more trance-like. The tiny pinpricks of silvery light surround the glorious moon that is reflecting on the surface of the water. The moon sinks as the tide rises to meet its copy. Now bewitched, I stare at the dancing fireflies which add there light to the brilliance around them. A lone cricket chirps and soon enough, the night sounds started up in a chorus, almost as it is being conducted.
I turn to the town which is deserted even as the moon’s white beams soaked through the reflective surfaces. The shadows of the night are sharp and contrast deeply with the full moons glow. The town is eerily artistic, and is reminding me greatly

It was a deceptively beautiful summer night in the month of July; Resplendent and artistic to people with discerning tastes and sensibilities. The sky was ornamented by splendiferous celestial beings. The waning moon was accessorized by the clouds, suspended mid-air in a picturesque, aesthetic fashion, wanting to augment the peculiarly blissful setting. The violet sky couldn’t have been any more sublime.…

Spaulding begins her essay with a detailed personal testimony that describes the deep emotional connection she feels for darkness. In part of the second paragraph she states, “the sky and shore and water were all one inky darkness though stars sparkled on the watery surface,” (83). This description of the lake in complete darkness is used as an appeal to value. Spaulding holds a feeling of serenity towards the dark and emphasizes how she becomes one with nature and the darkness itself. Specifically she creates a connection and emotional involvement with the stars.…

Her blouse was gone, replaced by a simple black dress. As soon as she got up to look around, she noticed that the environment around her was entirely different than that of the drive-in restuarant or her house. The sky was black, encompassed by large glowing rings of what looked to be ancient texts, and on its horizon was a rather large-looking moon. Connie felt oddly calm in this place, the red grass contrasted nicely with the dark sky. As she scanned her surrounding she found a path leading down.…

The thick tree lines and vast open fields bring a sense of freedom and grandeur. The brilliant light shining like beacon of hope with the soft calming breeze flowing across the field is refreshing and pure like a baby after a warm bath. The air seems to be free and clear of the city’s poisonous air pollution and the soft sounds of birds makes it all too refreshing, like a beautiful day on the beach. With quiet clean monuments and buildings dancing across the landscape, the look of peace and quiet seems to be present at last. As the blue crisp skies begin to darken across the brilliant blue pond, the shimmering light hitting the trees is as beautiful as the sun setting on the Catalina Island on a bright blue day with soft clouds flowing across the sky. I have the taste of fresh fruit on my tongue in my mouth as I take a long deep breath, and realize how much the soft green grass adds to the peacefulness in the park. I can hear the cheerful wildlife scampering beyond the tree line, like young children frolicking in their mother’s front yard. As the quiet darkness sets in, and with the city brilliant lights in the background, the serene park makes the bustling city seem peaceful once…

We begin our story in the small, beachy forest town of Nopicopolople (pronounced Nop-ee-cop-el-lop-el). Every day, the sun rose brightly over town, and waves crashed upon the beach, creating ripples in the sand. The cool breeze swept over the grass, carrying the sweet scent of dandelions and lavender with them. Every night, the moon shone brightly, letting the sun rest, ending the day with an alluring sunset.…

The clouds became thick obscuring the moon. They seethed cruelly in the moonlight, as dark as a witch’s Sabbath. The moons mercury flush was no longer to be seen, just the mourning cloaks of black. The wind bellows disturbed and in a place of agony. His boat keeled, the sail quavered, the timber planks buckled. The bottom of the boat creaked and dithered. An alarmed school of fish hurried underneath his boat. He felt isolated he could just see the infinite sea in front and some pockmarked lights in the distance too far for him to reach.…

The turbid water gently engulfed her leather boots, tarnishing them more and more with every step. The street lights issued a lambent, orange glow into the surrounding area, accompanied by an ominous feeling that threaded through her every breath. The familiar throbbing of her pulse in her ears, the very testament of her existence, was slowly retreating. Instead, she could feel her anxious heart clasping the fabric of her chest tighter with every street corner. Rubbish floated aimlessly about the empty street as the moon sailed across the night sky like a ghostly galleon.…

The sky is clear as the deep blue sea. The main focal point was the bright orange full moon, which is accented by the glitzing stars. The reflection of the moon stretched across the lake in the country pasture to my left. The wavy water caused the moon to move as if it was a boat in the middle of the lake. I strolled along the wooden bridge as the moderate, meek breeze brushed the hairs on my skin and my nose. There was a continuous melody of insects singing, while the owls, frogs, crickets, and other night creatures blended in like background singers. The planes soared through the sky, displaying an array of lights, which appeared to be shooting stars. The deer and foxes, as well as other wildlife, welcomed themselves to their playground as they ran, jumped, crept, and played…

I gaze out the droplet covered window at the bright line across the glistening blue water. All the stars are hiding timid behind the livid clouds. The moon peeks out, illuminating the river and casting an alluring reflection. The car makes loud ghastly sounds while speeding over the bridge. I look across to the bright jagged line, wishing that I could be over there. It represented freedom, independence, happiness; everything I didn’t have since we moved to this shabby town. Where was this bright line that brought be bliss? Why, it was New York City.…

Each new day begins with a sunrise. It brings to earth a new light that has never been seen before. The new light starts small and gradually reaches its peak in the vast sky. It nourishes the land, provides warmth and comfort, and inspires epic tales. Everything in the setting is natural, 'the deep green pool of the Salinas River' and 'a far rush of wind sounded and a gust drove through the tops of the trees like a wave. The language creates a feeling of light and brightness, particularly the "twinkling" water. The leaves are 'deep and so crisp' so that a lizard 'makes a great skittering' as it runs through them. The sycamore leaves turned up their silver sides, the brown, dry leaves on the ground scudded a few feet'. By these descriptions we have an image of a delightful place which is calm and peaceful almost like heaven.…

In viewing the sublime town, I move at a languid gait, despite the fact that it is midnight. The phase moon is visible as a fully illuminated disc that is encircled by shimmering stars; which creates an atmosphere that makes me feel unravel. Below this stupendous sight is a barren house that is totally in contrast to the scenery above it. The house is dark and is surrounded by white clouds; however the luminous light from the moon shines on this haunted house. Some of the windows are broken while some are cracked and filled with moulds. The roof is large and has several apertures and is falling at the seams. It lacks iridescence as it embeds only one fainted colour – grey. I quiver as the cold breeze blows, and the smell of mist fills the air and the leaves around the house arise. I am now in a state where my mind is not lucid, as I muddle whether I should return home or to continue this haphazard adventure.…

The bright blue background and High Mountain tops over 10 feet taller than me standing at 5’8’’. The slightly chilly breeze that lightly brushes my skin leaving small goose bumps throughout the surface of my whole body. The sound of the waterfall and view of the lake so translucent I can see the yellow fish all the way to the bottom. The trees singing in the background mimicking the echo of the water. The dirt soft and warm in-between my fingers from the pulsating raises of the sun. The rays drift in and out from the cover of the small puffy white and gray clouds. There is an overview of the city and tiny bugs in my peripheral vision that fly above me, there I sit on the mountain side with only the company of myself. I mentally evaluate my…
