This is a festival that encompasses a very wide range of traditionally African culture from fashion, to jewelry, to dance and drama performances. “The state is renowned for its festivals of songs, dance and masquerades.”(Ekpenyong 2012:287) With our film being predominantly rooted in the African culture this festival is a platform to showcase how we experimented with culture to retell a narrative that has already been told. Our film incorporates a variety of song and visual signs and symbols which could be represented at the festival and displayed to the masses of people in attendance. To incorporate this concept into our stand we intend on taking our viewers on a journey to relate to the film. The stand will include a wall dividing the space into two, one side will reflect on the various cultural aspects that were taken away from African traditions and the other will reflect on how the culture is being rebirthed and appreciated in today’s society. When coming out of the booths the participants will face themselves by staring into a mirror, this is to allow them to reflect on which side of the wall they stand and if they agree with the African narrative being redefined. To promote the film we would need to create a poster, which would aid in promoting the festival. The poster includes our protagonist dressed in animal skin, standing in a fixed position, asserting his dominance. It is a powerful image that I believe would attract viewers as the character exudes confidence. With the poster aiding in promoting we would release trailers and behind the scenes footage to engage our audience then hold small debates discussing issues of Africans grounding themselves in their cultures, as this pertains to the topics addressed in our
