The eight developmental ages are early childhood, middle childhood, adolescence, early adulthood, middle adulthood, late adulthood, or the end of life (Rathus,2018).
Out of all the developmental ages, the most intriguing one is adolescence because everyone has experienced this process. Adolescence, is the part of life where a child is in process of developing into an adult (Rathus,2016,p.45). Adolescence happens between the ages of eleven to eighteen and sometimes nineteen. Adolescence is an interesting development because there are many changes that occurs in both boys and girls, along with peer pressure and mental changes (Rathus,2018). Puberty and adolescence coincides with each other because they are more likely to occur at the same point and time, although puberty can happen later in adolescence. During adolescence, boys became more sexually free and experience nocturnal emissions, which are also known as wet dreams (Rathus,2018). She started going through adolescence at the end of fifth grade, and then I really did not understand what adolescence was. Even when I hit puberty and started adolescence I did not understand my bodily and physical changes because in high school health classes the teachers do not go in depth with what adolescence really is. I always thought adolescence was just a phase that someone went through for like a month then everything was back to normal. It is fascinating because no one ever realizes the chemical and physical changes that a person goes through. Adolescence is about one finding him or herself, experimenting sexually, conquering and avoiding peer pressure, learning how people are, becoming one with him or herself. I was also interested in the group because I am becoming a Registered Nurse and will be working at pediatric doctor’s office, which sees from their newborn up until they are eighteen years of age. My interest in this age group will help me better relate and understand my patient, if I have one that does not understand what his or her body is doing. The study of adolescence will help me understand my sister more and try to relate to her at a better level, since we are four years apart. I feel as if adolescence should be taught throughout middle school because the boys and girls are starting to transition into adulthood; they should be able to ask
