This photograph is showing a girl outside of what it appears to be her school. The little girl is standing outside, holding her school bag and at the same time she looks like she's waiting for someone or something to happen. This picture called my attention because the little girl looked very confused and scared.
All of her work is portrait in black and white because she uses this types of colors to show people feeling and expressions. By using these colors, she can also express the difference between natural beauty and reality. Black and white photos help to emphasize the emotion such as looking at someone’s face or into their eyes. Using black and white, she was able to focus on the composition of the picture, which often idealize of her picture. She added drama which grabbed people’s attention and gave emotional connections to her images.
Arbus uses a different composition on her pictures because it makes them look natural and unique. Some of the composition elements were the color, value, and space in order to add more life to her images. She gave a specific aspect for each photos in order to had her own styles. She used to portraits people emotion and reaction on black and white.
In sum, she based her photography on people’s lives and how they react during their first impression. It is a black and white pictures during 1957. Black and white pictures represent the influence of emotions in her pictures because her pictures have a special significance in American society. Society should appreciate the importance of the traditional black and white picture because it has contributed a lot to our society.
