It is very important for a MA to know the difference when dealing with Alzheimer's and dementia. A person who is being diagnosed with dementia they are being diagnosed with a set of symptoms. A difference between the two is dementia can be reversed and Alzheimer's cannot. Someone who has dementia can go through counseling and it can be reversed. With Alzheimer's, it is incurable at that time and cannot be reversed.
Dementia is more of a syndrome rather than a disease. You can get short term dementia from being drunk. Alzheimer’s is a disease that comes from Dementia. Different signs of dementia include: personality changes, unsteady walking, wandering, hallucination, and paranoia.
