For instance, in a section of 4.2 Consequences, it said “The college may apply the full range of options, including suspension or expulsion, according to the procedures outlines” (Student code of conduct and discipline, 2015, p. 6), the word ‘may’ give an unexpected range of procedure. However, penalties of Seneca, there is “three out”. For example, for the first offence students will get “0” grade and second offence “F” in their course then on further violation they will be suspended from the college (Academic Honesty, n.d.). So, having clear procedures will help students to be more cautious with the policies. In conclusion, it does not matter whether every college has similarities and differences on academic honesty policies on plagiarism like definition, term to explain different forms of plagiarism and penalty procedure. It is the guidelines and cautions to help guide their students to have good essays, projects and so on.
