Finch! She shouted. This is cal. I swear to God there’s a mad dog down the street a piece.” This shows that in the book the dog had rabies. Moreover in the film it had the exact same thing, a dog filled with the disease coming towards Calpurnia and the kids. Although they both had similarities, a difference between the book and film were that in the book as Calpurnia saw the dog, she warned all her neighbors. According to the book To Kill A Mockingbird on page 124 it states that “Calpurnia’s message had been received by the neighborhood.” This proves that in the book Calpurnia had called her neighbors about the mad dog and to pass along the message to everyone else. However in the film it absolutely skipped this part, causing difference between the book and film.
In conclusion, as I watched the film and read the book, I realized that there were a few parts in the book that was not presented in the film. Some things were the fact that the book had Calpurnia warning her neighbors. Unlike the film which did not include this scene that I could picture in my head myself. However within all of this differences between the two, the similarity was that the dog had the same type of illness. Despite the fact that both the book and film had differences, they were still similar in many ways.
