Differences: Similarities Between Sikh And Christianity
Both Sikh and Christianity contain descriptive beliefs regarding God, life after death, the purpose of life, and salvation. The world’s religion varies in practices and beliefs. There are evident similarities between faiths. There is continual significance within the ordered totality of concrete human living (Jacobs-Vandegeer, 2014). Both Sikh and Christianity beliefs consist of a God. However, they differ in Sikh beliefs of God are somewhat different. The Sikh faith believes in only one God. They believe one should clearly worship the one and only God (RealSikhism.com, 2015). The Christian religion also believes in the worship of God. However, the Christian faith worships both God and Jesus. Christians hold glory to God’s son and exhibit unconditional love for the savior. There are more notable differences between Sikhism and Christianity pertaining to beliefs of life after death. The Sikh religion holds a strong belief in reincarnation. They maintain a belief that all creatures, both human and animal, have a soul that transforms through a journey. Both Sikhism and Christianity believe there is a heaven and a hell. Although both the Sikh and Christian faiths believe in heaven and hell, Christians believe one’s soul remains there for eternity. The Sikhs feel that the soul can transform and be lifted to heaven. The purpose of life can be characterized by both as the belief and worshipping of God. Christianity emphasizes living God’s will and teachings. Sikh feel that life is a journey to purify one’s soul and become one with God. Lastly, both religions see salvation through becoming one with God.
